Kristin Sloan began her pursuit of artistry and athleticism at the age of 8, on an ice rink in South Park, Pennsylvania. It was her first skating lesson that began a chain of events which landed her in New York City, leaving her home in Boston at the age of 14, to study at the world renowned School of American Ballet.

After three years at SAB, during which Ms. Sloan also spent summers studying with the Royal Danish Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Centre de Danse Internationale in Cannes, and the Royal Ballet in London, Kristin was invited by Peter Martins to become an apprentice with the New York City Ballet. Seven months later she received a full corps de ballet contract and began dancing many roles in the company's repetoire, including featured roles and roles created for her in new works.

Kristin was the recipient of the Bartholin Award while studying in Copenhagen, and was also the recipient of a Princess Grace Dance Honorarium. She has performed around the world with the company, including places like Edinburgh, Tokyo, Osaka, and the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.

Ms. Sloan has been or can currently be seen on the pages of German Vogue and Lucky Magazine, on the cover of LVHRD's MGZN Issue 1, in the Columbia Pictures feature film “Center Stage”, on her website thewinger.com, and on the stage of the New York State Theater at Lincoln Center.

In the fall of 2006, New York City Ballet asked Ms. Sloan if she would be interested in documenting the creation of their new production of Romeo + Juliet. The end result was a 9-episode video series, directed, filmed, and edited by Kristin for NYCB's promotional mini-site Tragic Love NYC. The videos can still be viewed here, and on NYCB's blip.tv page.
